Graceland Wedding Chapel
Las Vegas
01/24/21
The Elvis themed wedding chapel on Las Vegas Boulevard houses the coming together of the son of a feared Yakuza boss, Tetsuya Kuwata and his bride-to-be, Aiko. Tetsuya, being obsessed with the music icon, defying his father’s wishes by marrying in his homeland, instead opts to travel to the United States to tie the knot in the famous chapel, without his father in attendance.
Aiko, dressed in traditional Japanese wedding attire stands at the top of the aisle, her husband awaits her arrival at the altar; four of his bodyguards doubling as witnesses to the occasion.
The Elvis impersonator; dressed in a black jumpsuit with a red scarf and tinted glasses, begins to serenade the bride.
“Wise men say, only fools rush in…”
He approaches Aiko and takes her by the hand, beginning to walk her down the tired brown carpet.
“But I can’t help falling in love with you…”
The impersonator leaves Aiko by the side of Tetsuya, who frowns at the slight British twang to the impersonator’s accent.
“Shall I stay? Would it be a sin?”
The impersonator walks over to the altar.
“Come on, everybody together now yall…”
The wedding party nods and starts to sing with Elvis.
“But I can’t help falling in love with you… there you go, good job guys.”
The bodyguards and bride-to-be clap at the singing performance, the groom still looks uncertain.
“Well here we are folks, we are here together in the City of Lights, the world-famous Graceland Chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada to celebrate the love between Tetsuya, and his gorgeous bride Aiko."
The bodyguards again applaud as their guards are lowered by the impersonator’s warmth and incredible impression.
“Let’s get straight to it folks, cause I know you’ve come a long way for this occasion. Aiko, do you take Tetsuya to be your lawfully wedded husband?”
Aiko nods in excitement, “Yes, Yes I do”.
The impersonator smiles at her, “Ah shucks, look at that, such pure love folks”.
He turns to Tetsuya, “I really wish she didn’t say yes”.
A gasp of shock is heard throughout the wedding party, Tetsuya’s face starts to turn from joy to anger.
“What? What did you say to me? Do you know who I am?” asks the groom.
The impersonator removes his glasses, revealing he is missing an eye. He begins to speak in a British accent.
“Yes, I know who you are, Tetsuya Kuwata. Son of the notorious Yakuza leader, Minoru Kuwata.”
One bodyguard points to the impersonator, “His eye, what happened to his eye?”
“IT’S BLACKWATER!!!” screams Tetsuya, “KILL HIM NOWWW!!!!!!”
Blackwater reaches down underneath the altar with lightning-fast reflexes and pulls out his trusty old Browning 9mm handgun, running the action as he raises the gun into position, aimed at the first bodyguard.
“HOLY SHITTTTT!!!!” shouts the first bodyguard as he fumbles his firearm.
Blackwater fires off two shots and double-taps him, one bullet through the chest. The other through his forehead. The contents of his skull decorate the benches behind as the force of the shots send him tumbling back over the seat behind.
The second bodyguard lunges for Blackwater but is met with a pistol whip, spinning him around. Blackwater grabs the back of the bodyguard’s belt and pulls him in close, using him as a human shield.
The remaining bodyguards open fire, regardless of their colleague’s position as a human shield. Their aim is poor, they manage to miss Blackwater, instead peppering the shield with multiple fatal shots.
Blackwater pushes the dead bodyguard into the direction of the two remaining guards, causing enough of a distraction for Blackwater to get a clean shot.
He shoots the first through the neck, he immediately grasps his throat as blood pours out. He falls into Aiko as he collapses, covering her white dress in blood. Blackwater unloads four rounds into the chest of the remaining bodyguard, he too slumps to the ground.
Tetsuya looks nervously around at his fallen bodyguards, Blackwater ejects the empty clip of his pistol and reloads another.
“It’s over Tetsuya, it’s now just you and me.”
As he begins to raise the pistol, Aiko screams out loud. She rips off her wedding dress, revealing a tight-fitting samurai outfit, and a concealed Wakizashi sword.
“Well Tetsuya, it’s fair to say I now know who wears the trousers in this relationship.”
“KILL HIM NO…”
Before Tetsuya can even finish his sentence, Blackwater quickly fires a round through his knee cap, dropping him whilst he cries out in agony.
Aiko charges for Blackwater, as she swings her small sword. He aims his gun at her but she swings the sword at it, knocking the pistol from his hands. He rolls over the altar in an invasive action. Looking for something to use as a melee weapon, he sees an electric guitar on the wall, he quickly stands and grabs it.
Aiko swings again for Blackwater, who counters with the swing of his guitar. It absorbs the swing, the sword becomes lodged in the guitar. They stand there tangled with each other like two interlocked stags. Both eagerly looking for an advantage, Blackwater drives forward causing Aiko to tumble over the altar, both dropping their weapons in the process.
Aiko lands with a thud, but as she rolls to her side she notices Blackwater’s handgun on the floor and quickly attempts to retrieve it. As she does this, Blackwater pulls the sword free from the entangled guitar and rushes for Aiko, but she aims the pistol at his head before he can swing the sword at her.
“Game over, Blackwater.” she pulls the trigger.
But no shot is fired.
“Silly girl, you left the safety on.”
Aiko quickly looks at the gun as she tries to turn the safety off. She again looks up at Blackwater in the realisation of her impending doom.
He beheads her with her own sword. Her body slumps to the ground as her blood sprays up the tired white walls of the chapel, her head rolls towards her finance, who is still crying about his knee.
“You want to fight like a Samurai, you can die like a Samurai.”
Blackwater picks up his trusty pistol and tucks it inside his jumpsuit. With Aiko’s sword in hand, he walks over to Tetsuya, putting his shoe on Tetsuya’s injured knee, who screams out in agony.
“The memory card, where is the fucking memory card,” shouts Blackwater.
“You’ll never get away with this, my father will…”
“Your father paid me to carry out this hit you fool, now give me the memory card and I’ll promise I’ll make it quick.”
“No...no… he wouldn’t…”
“He discovered you were going to sell him out to the Las Vegas charter of the Yakuza, and that you’d lead a coup to unseat him from his place at the table.”
“You’ll never find it… you will…”
“Please don’t tell me you swallowed it?”
“What… no… I…”
Blackwater shakes his head, “Fucksake you swallowed it.”
“No… wait… it’s”
Blackwater quickly removes his scarf, which has somehow remained in place throughout all of this. He stuffs it down Tetsuya’s throat to muffle the screams. He then raises Aiko’s sword and drives it into Tetsuya’s abdomen, disembowelling him. After rummaging around, he locates the memory card, concealed within a condom.
As Tetsuya bleeds out on the floor, Blackwater retrieves a gas canister from the back and douses the chapel with gasoline. He puts on his shades again and lights a cigarette as he heads for the exit, tossing his lighter back inside, engulfing the blood-stained massacre of the fallen wedding party in flames.
Blackwater walks down Las Vegas Boulevard as smoke and flames can be seen rising from the chappel, finally, it explodes.
Blackwater pulls his phone out from his jumpsuit and makes a call.
“It is done, Minoru, now we are even.”
“Thank you, Tetsuya was no son of mine. Did you retrieve the memory card?”
Blackwater looks at it, “Yes I did, I’ll ensure it’s returned safely to you in exchange for those files we discussed.”
Blackwater’s phone beeps, an email arrives.
“There are your files.”
“This card will be on its way back to Tokyo, tonight. So long Minoru.”
Blackwater hangs up the phonecall and sits on a bench as he finishes his cigarette. He begins to read the file Minoru sent him.
“Remy Nakamura, a half Japanese, half American young pup who has gotten himself into hot water with the wrong people. Don’t fuck with the Yakuza son, no one is safe from them, not even there own flesh and blood.”
Blackwater looks back at the smouldering chapel.
“This file includes an A to Z of your life Remy, everywhere you’ve been, it tells me how much debt your in, it gives me all of your strengths, and your weaknesses. I need to get off the streets so I can dissect this file, and learn your every move ready for our big match in the tournament.”
