The Bastard Lands, formerly known as Southwest Las Vegas
A very plush big rollers suite. This place is packed with all the goodies. Including women scantly dressed serving drinks. But not to gang members. To military men and a few other men that are dressed in suits. One of them is recognizable as Benedict Abraham Dunlap, lawyer for DCI. Voodoo and Raven Darkhawk are also in attendance. The military men consist of five men, all of them at least two star generals from the looks of their jackets, and each one seems to represent a division of the military plus the Coast Guard. Two of the gentlemen are Native Americans. Bull walks into the room in a suit fit for a warlord. All the gentlemen stand, placing a right fist over their hearts, and Bull raises his hands, urging them to sit as he walks to the bar and pulls a bottle of whiskey up. Voodoo joins him in an outfit that is basically lingerie with boots. Raven places a finger to her ear and nods to Bull, who looks around the room and smiles.
“Gentlemen, all of our hard work and planning is beginning to pay off. Thanks to careful planning and recruiting and a lot of red tape, we have successfully placed ourselves in a win-win situation. Raven has brought us a few special guests, so let's introduce them shall we.”
A man in a suit is walked in with a black bag over his head. A member of the Chameleon elite group removes the bag over his head and it is revealed as Steve Sisolak, the governor of Nevada. He looks confused and shaken, but is guided to a chair and he sits, still seeming to be out of it. Another Chameleon member walks in with a man that is severely beaten and tosses him at the feet of Raven. Bull looks at her.
“We remember you saying there were two of them.”
“There was. How do you think I made this one talk. He spilled his guts like he watched his best friend get skinned like a pig.”
Bull raises an eyebrow.
“Well that is what happened.”
“And what have we learned?”
Raven clears her throat.
“It isn’t clear if Dukes is even aware of what is going on when he isn’t around. These two idiots were part of Von Brandts group. They tried to disguise themselves as regular ol Las Vegasins...Las Vegasnites? I don’t know what you call them, but they failed. They were eyeing up the high school and were noticed by Roundabout. So he followed them and they were really interested in the Nevada National Guard area. Seems they didn’t realize it was there or that the entire unit works for you now. So I had them brought in and I had a talk with them. One didn’t make it, but this one spilled his guts. So far it seems that Von Brandt is attempting to go rogue. But it remains to be seen. There was some other things...but we will discuss those later.”
Bull nods and looks to the Governor.
“Sorry for the treatment, we didn’t want anyone to know you were here.”
“Why am I here Mister Bull?”
“We have just one question. Do you think Biden is going to help you? He is president now and yet Vegas remains as it was before he was there. So do you think he cares what happens here?”
“Well he is the president. I am sure he cares what happens.”
“And yet your Vegas remains as it is. Like our opponent this coming week, some Tuxedo guy, he doesn’t care what happens. He has no respect for you sir. He could care less, only worried about himself. But he doesn't know what is coming. He can’t see past his own nose. And that is going to cost him the same way it will cost this Tuxedo character. Now we look at the big picture. We are checking out everyone in the tournament. Even the Viking...who did we send there again?”
“The Utti Jaegar.”
“Utti Jaegar?”
“Finnish special forces, former actually. Looks like a big ol viking. Figured he could walk around them and feel at home.”
“The point is that we care what happens. We know what is going to happen, what is coming, even if Biden doesn’t see it. This country is going to eat itself alive and only the strong and prepared will survive. Now, we have a generous offer for you.”
Bull nods and Voodoo presents him with a check with a lot of zeros on it.
“That should cover you for awhile. All we ask is that when you get a package from us, you do exactly what it says.”
The governor stares at it, then looks at Bull with a large grin and nods his agreement.
“Now for the rest of you, Raven could you read off what we have ready?”
Raven pulls a cord and a curtain moves to reveal a map of Nevada with a few large pins in it.
“Nellis Air Force Base, the US Army Reserve Station, the Nevada National Guard here in the Bastard Lands, we sent a team to capture the US Department of Energy Nevada National, US Naval Undersea Warfare base, Naval Air Station Fallon, US Naval Reservation, Fallon Paiute Shoshone tribe, and the Moapa River Indian Reservation. We have, at a moment's notice, full control of the bases. The men and women on them have all pledged their allegiance to you and are going to follow your orders first and foremost. For now they go about their lives as they usually do. These generals and two tribal chiefs are the connection.”
Bull looks at the group.
“This is the time gentlemen. Continue the course. Do as we ask, not as you think is right. And in the end, we shall be the ones that stand at the top of the mountain.”
“ALL HAIL THE BASTARD WARLORD.”
“Now enjoy the entertainment, these women love to please. If you will excuse us, we have some other matters that need our attention.”
Bull leaves the room and Raven drags the guy along and Voodoo and Dunlap follow. Inside the private suite next door, Bull looks at Raven and Voodoo pours him a drink from the whiskey.
“What else do you know sister?”
“Dukes is playing a dangerous game. I can’t tell if he is going to win or not, but it is going to be close. There is word of the military units in California moving to the border. Luckily the units from the US Army Reserve Station are under our command. They are controlling the entrance to the Black Hare. Von Brandt’s men stay away from them. Something is brewing though, and it has me on edge.”
Bull stares out a window as Voodoo hands him a drink.
“Benedict.”
“Yes my lord.”
“Is the paper work ready.”
“Almost! It is nearly complete. And this is exciting. It took me awhile, but the Nevada constitution has a few loop holes that, when combined with the proper federal statues, can be used to serve our purposes.”
Bull nods and looks at the three.
“Let’s keep an eye on Von Brandt. Benedict, finish that paperwork as soon as you can and bring us a copy. Raven, dispose of this man here. We don’t want a warning, just make him gone. Things are starting to come together and we don’t want to pull the trigger too soon, nor do we want to be caught off guard. Heads up, eyes forward, lets keep running this race.”
Raven and Benedict nod and leave. Bull turns to Voodoo.
“Send word to Icepick. Tell him we are thinking of meeting with this Viking Jarl. We want to know everything he has discovered.”
“Yes most lethal one.”
Bull turns back to the window, staring at the sky over his Bastard Lands. Somewhere, a scream happens and he smiles.
