?: I’m sure that this wasn’t the start you were expecting, but in the name of artistic vision and your..well your entitlement to consume said vision as much as you wish to...I say why not give the people what they want? I won’t hold you up any longer. Please, enjoy the previously...unaired...episode of The Walkers.
With the theme music fading out and the outside of 8241 Primrose Lane coming into mostly clear view aside from a view pops and tears in the footage. After a harsh cut to the inside of the house, the feed settles on the dining table where all four members of the household gather. Eyes are initially closed with heads hanging down aimed at the edge of the table.
Another skip and heads are up, eyes are staring ahead and focused on the bird in the center of it all. It steps awkwardly over the polished wood surface, unsure of its positioning or where to go next. They remain deadlocked on its unassuming red and blue face.
Another skip into a warped graphic with a bugged out background. In the center of it, two words.
Another skip and Robert is reclined at forty-five degrees. A primal moan comes from deep within the bloat of his belly.
His face shows smears of crimson with mouth agape. Another moan echoes off the living room walls as Alice walks in from the kitchen.
Alice: Sounds like someone’s out of commission for the night.
Robert: The night? Try the next year.
The Walkers’ daughter emerges through the swinging door to the kitchen in a panicked state.
Abby: Mooooom! Daaaaad! The turkey’s loose!
The door flies open again as Will skids into the scene and right into the middle of an all out shouting match.
Will: WOAH! PAUSE!
The scene freezes with the other three family members pointing fingers at one another while a long strand of red dangles from Robert’s chin. Will makes his way towards the front door and freezes on his own as his hand wraps around the knob. Another skip and he’s outside looking up at light. No sky, just blinding rays. A warped voice comes overhead as Will becomes a deer in headlights. Its tone is raspy and cold.
?: Cut.
Another skip and we’re back in the living room where the members of the household are seen waving towards the same front door only instead of light pouring in, there’s a clear line from the lit interior to a deep amount of black.
Altogether: BYE, UNCLE AL!
Without turning to any of the others, Abby speaks out.
Abby: I wonder why he didn’t stay longer.
Alice: My brother is a busy man. I guess when you gotta go, you gotta go.
The kitchen door swings open behind them and a gobble causes them to all spin around in unison. In a second flurry of shouting, they begin the chase.
