Lazaro’s eyes drift towards a final close and the action around him continues to play out like full blown warfare. With the passing of time, he finds himself able to open them again. As they do, the resolution of a much different scene starts to become visible. Those who were previously duking it out are nowhere to be found and the deck is totaled. Surfaces are splintered and dented, debris lay scattered around the ground, and streaks of low ceiling flame line the area. He does his best to shake the cobwebs, his palms against the boards under him. He pushes to a single knee, but is cut off by ZMAC doing a ZMAC bit.
ZMAC: AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW, LAZLO!
ZMAC literally punches down then punches down again. He climbs on top of Lazaro and tucks his hands under his opponent’s chin. McMorris interlocks his fingers and cranks back Lazaro lets out a pained exhale and feels the air being forced from his body yet again. When the early signs of fading come, Lazaro’s eyes dart around in search of any sort of escape or relief. To his surprise, his prayers are answered as ZMAC’s hold releases completely. In fact, rolling over to his back, he sees that ZMAC has disappeared completely. Lazaro pushes onto his elbows and looks to his left, but finds empty space. To his right, he sees another face.
Robert: I’ve gotta tell ya, son. This has been fun, but I don’t know how much more I can take. It’s not like I’m getting any younger now, am I?
There’s no chance for physical rebuttal as Lazaro’s body tells him no and he slumps back down once more. Company continues to make themselves known. Alice walks backward along the railing, pouring gasoline out in front of her. Standing over Lazaro now, Abby taps the bat from earlier playfully against her head. Another pivot to his left side reveals Will with the red-bearded captain flung across being drug by both hands. He whistles the melody of Joy by John Bartmann as he pushes up under the weight of the unconscious man and flips him up over the railing. Lazaro’s eyes go wide and after a slow turn, Will stares back at him. His lips part as mouths an obvious movie quote and pulls the wrinkled hat from his back pocket. One simple nod and a tip of the cap and he departs.
