“Smoke and Mirrors:
the Sad and Sinister Truth behind Jabberwock Industries”
By Johnathan Backus
Published in the San Francisco Chronicle, 4/22/21
The situation in Las Vegas has risen from concerning to dire to completely untenable. Beyond the grotesque violations of the basic rights every American citizen has been denied under Executive 51 – an almost parodic shredding of the Bill of Rights – the paramilitary firm, Jabberwock Securities, has all but lost control of the situation on the ground. While there is no official recordkeeping of crime, people in all neighborhoods south of Downtown have found themselves in a constant state of fear – whether from the encroachment of homicidal warlord Corey Bull, enclaves of nomadic Vikings (yes, seriously), or the embolden homeless population, many of whom are recently released inmates from nearby Devil’s Gate prison, residents live in a constant state of fear.
It begs the question how Jabberwock Securities, a prestigious paramilitary firm supplied with top-of-the-line technology, could let things fall so into chaos. While apathy, negligence, and corruption can all be suspected, the Chronicle has undertaken a serious investigation into Jabberwock and its leader, Von Brandt. The results of this investigation have been both shocking and concerning, casting further questions on the situation in Las Vegas and the Biden Administration’s reticence to bring it under control.
This much can be determined about Jabberwock Securities: it is a remarkably young company. While the Chronicle was able to find plenty of paper records indicating it had been subcontracted during the Obama Administration, there is no verifiable proof this is actually true. There are no witness accounts of Jabberwock involvement – there are no photo or video records of personnel in Jabberwock uniform – the only confirmed appearance of Von Brandt in Iraq was alongside Eric Prince, as part of a consultation with Xe Services.
The first confirmed appearance, beyond ostensible paper records, of Jabberwock Securities can be traced to the Crimean Crisis in 2014. Photographic evidence confirms both the presence of Von Brandt and a small unit bearing Jabberwock’s distinct patch alongside unmarked Russian forces, deployed by then President Vladimir Putin. Jabberwock Securities can only be verified as having stayed in Crimea for one week, in which they engaged with and violently suppressed Pro-Maidan protestors.
Paper records from here suggest consultation work in Miami, FL and Brazil, but there are once again little to no evidence of any physical Jabberwock Securities activity.
In 2019, Jabberwock receives a private contract by Patriot’s Prayer founder Joey Gibson. This coincides with Jabberwock’s second major appearance, engaging with counter-protestors during the 2019 Portland Riots. Von Brandt and Gibson were extensively photographed together.
Photography and videography of the riots and Jabberwock’s involvement has allowed the Chronicle to identify many of the personnel employed by the paramilitary contractor. This much can be determined: the overwhelming majority of Jabberwock’s initial personnel can be traced to far-right militias in Nevada, particularly in the areas between and surrounding Battle Mountain and Elko.
Investigation into these regions and the local far-right groups and militias was difficult. Residents were hesitant to discuss anything, for fear of violent reprisal. For the sake of their safety, source identities will remain anonymous and confidential. These sources have been thoroughly vetted and their allegations confirmed through numerous channels. The following what we have confirmed:
“Von Brandt” was born to the name Felix Stapleton Jr. on a Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints compound somewhere around Lovelock, NV. Due to the survivalist, sovereign citizen ethos of the compound members, as well as the illegality of their polygamist lifestyle, he has no birth certificate, nor social security number. He is, for all intents and purposes, a man who does not exist on paper.
Stapleton lived on this FLDS compound until the age of 18-years-old. He was considered a violent and temperamental young man. He was excommunicated and banished from the compound, likely one of the many “Lost Boys” sent off to keep polygamist gender ratios in favor of Church Elders. Stapleton traveled to Elko, NV, where he spent several months homeless. With no formal education, distrustful of the outside world, and little-to-no practical skills for civilization, he found himself in and out of local jails for petty theft, muggings, and assault.
Stapleton began appearing alongside far-right “Battleborn Militia” in the mid-90’s. It is around this time he met Eric Prince and began working for Blackwater under the alias “Frederick Von Brandt”. He was deployed to Kosovo, and he briefly served as a member of Blackwater during the early days of the War in Afghanistan. Outside of his tenure in Blackwater, there is no evidence that Stapleton had any formal military training, expertise, or experience.
In earl 2020, Jabberwock receives a staggering influx of capital. The almost one billion dollar investment is credited to a hedge fund registered as “Oblivione Investments, Inc.” Filings for Oblivione reveal it to be little more than a shell, its listed address leading to a frozen yogurt shop in La Jolla, CA. Its start-up capital can be traced to two further sources. One source is listed as “Philidor Holdings, LLC.” Investigation has shown this company to be a further shell – its listed address is an unoccupied floor in the historic Tammany Hall building in Manhattan. The other source directs to “Holmes & Associates”, a hedge fund managed by former Hollywood producer, Edward Holmes.
Holmes & Associates’ clients include renown billionaire Eric Prince, recently-elected New Guinea President Robert Cairo, and sports mega-agent Vincent “Buddy” Roman. Notable investments they’ve made include Kundo Industries, Morta Technologies, and Ramses Entertainment LLC.
With this capital, Jabberwock secured a $500 million contract with Kundo Industries for military-grade equipment. This equipment can be seen on the streets of Las Vegas today. Invoices show a startlingly short window between Jabberwock’s acquisition of the equipment and their deployment to Las Vegas. It’s unknown how long any of their personnel were trained in its use.
More likely than not, Jabberwock’s failure to maintain law and order in Las Vegas suggest not only apathy and negligence but a startling suggestion of incompetence. The Chronicle is mystified and disturbed by what appears to be an elaborate and intensive creation of Jabberwock’s reputation, adding illusion to what can only be otherwise described as a bog-standard militia with unprecedented financial backing.
As the situation in Las Vegas continues to deteriorate without the National Guard or Armed Forces in sight, one simply has to wonder – is the government of the United States leaving its own people to die to contain the chaos? And what will be the cost if that simply cannot be the case?
JOURNALIST’S NOTE TO ED: (REMOVE BEFORE PRINT)
I’m beginning to feel the publication of this article, given the sensitivity of the situation, could be dangerous. With gang war seemingly on the rise and tensions reaching a fever pitch – what if fear of Jabberwock is all that’s keeping people in line? What if when we pull back the curtain on the Great and Power Oz to show the world who he is and that fear evaporates… things get worse? I beg you to please forward this article to the Justice Department for their approval before print. If it exacerbates the situation to sell a few newspapers, that blood may just end up on our hands.
I really – really – don’t give a shit about the Pulitzer or the prestige. Please be cautious.
