I should have known how my match against Church was going to go. He’s undefeated for a reason. At this point, I feel down and out. Maybe that’s why I’m here in the most unconventional therapist’s office I’ve ever seen. The woman herself seems normal enough. Her name is Dani Applegate. She has red hair tied up in a loose bun. Her face exudes confidence, especially with her piercing blue eyes, and she looks oddly comfortable in her dress suit. The room is what truly throws me off. It’s more like a living room than an office. Maybe it’s to make the patient feel more comfortable. I’m unsure. Unfortunately, I feel more confused than comfortable. She seems a bit restless, turning away from her computer to face me.
L~7: You can tell that from a Quasonic?
Dani: You aren’t the first extraterrestrial species I’ve spoken to. Auron sends many different beings in need to my direction.
L~7: I assume this is a specialty of yours then.
Dani: I suppose you could say that, although I still mainly speak to humans. I’m sure you can tell we don’t have other species around too often.
L~7: Certainly not. This is interesting, however…
Dani: Let’s not get too sidetracked, L. We’re talking about you today, not me. I understand one of your friends went missing.
L~7: More like a crewmate. I don’t know them very personally. They’re the newest member of our crew.
She already knows about Numine. Maybe her relationship with Auron is too close for us to trust her. I suppose I’ll have to find that out.
L~7: I would like to be, but there’s so many variables that I have yet to understand.
Dani: Yes, Auron and I spoke about those variables. I understand how difficult it can be when all you can do is ask questions.
L~7: My friends being suspicious of Auron and his team doesn’t exactly help either.
She raises an eyebrow at my direction, and smirks as well.
L~7: Have you had previous situations that have led to that?
Dani: More like his demeanor. Let’s just say that Auron counts on me to help with his patients’ mental needs for good reason. He’s a fantastic doctor, especially when it comes to brain surgery. The thing is that he doesn’t like to show a lot of emotion while he’s on the job. He wants to make sure that no one panics or thinks that he can’t handle the situations that constantly get thrown at him. Trust me. I’ve seen him show emotion. I think you’d prefer his poker face.
Dani seems sincere, but it’s hard to determine that for certain when this is something she’s learned for what I assume is a long time.
Dani: I don’t mean to answer your question with a question, but I’m curious. Is this you being suspicious, or your friends’ suspicions giving you anxiety? From what I’ve been told, you seem to be the leader of your team. Am I correct?
L~7: I… don’t want to assume such a role.
Dani: In any case, you’re your own person. I understand that you’re in a planet you aren’t entirely familiar with, but it seems like these suspicions are coming more from your partners than from you personally.
L~7: I take my partner’s perspectives very seriously. If they feel reason to not trust someone, then I need to figure out if their speculation is necessary.
She nods, and types on her PC for a few moments.
L~7: That’s actually a very fair point… maybe that’s partially why I have such a hard time with this tournament as of late.
Dani: Yes, I’ve heard you’ve been struggling on that front as well. Would you like to talk about that?
That comforting feeling is beginning to catch me. This woman knows what she’s doing.
Dani looks both concerned and intrigued. Her blue eyes are now giving me a much softer look than they did before.
Dani: What about Remi took you out of your game?
I… am unsure how to answer this question. I feel a bit embarrassed even being asked this.
Dani: Have you spoken to a lot of people in the locker room?
L~7: Only him. I think our interaction is what caused me to steer clear from talking with any of the other members of BPW.
Dani: Why do you think that is?
I never thought about this until she asked me. I’ve been so focused on what’s been going on in the bunker, that I haven’t really thought about my relationship with other BPW members that much..
Dani: Yes, but everyone deals with personal matters outside of the locker room. There has to be something else.
L~7: Are you trying to say my conversation with Remy made me not want to talk with any of the other wrestlers?
Dani: Hey, you said it. Not me.
She gives me time to ponder while she types away. She has that smirk on her face again. Pride is all over her face… wait.
Dani: What?
L~7: Absolutely not.
Dani: L, relax.
I stand up and begin to walk to the door. I can’t… no way.
I’d rather not. Not now. I exit the room. Goodness, I can’t believe this is happening to me.

Fresh air… something I haven’t gotten enough of ever since I’ve been moving from one bunker to the next. I needed this. The view of the sunset over the park brings so much relief in my direction.
An asian man that looks way too much like Remy walks my direction. Luckily, there’s just enough of a difference to tell that it isn’t him. Still, they could be twins, if it weren’t for the difference in hair, and, well… the wheelchair.
L~7: You’re Ray Zurra’s son?
Jason: Yes, I know. I get that a lot. I got most of my mom’s genes. Anyway, I’ve been watching your matches. Makes me wish I could wrestle.
L~7: I won’t ask. I’m sure it isn’t a fun topic.
Jason: Definitely not. I’d rather talk about your match. Who you got this week?
L~7: Tuxedo Max. I’m hoping this match will be what brings some of my momentum back. I definitely need it.
Jason: I’ll root for you. I have been before my dad met you. You got a strategy?
L~7: I think I just need to clear my mind before the match. *Actually* clear my mind.
Jason: Do it before you even hit the arena. Maybe that’ll help.
L~7: Maybe… thank you.
Jason: Anytime! See you on the screen.
He leaves, allowing me to get some extra time to meditate.
